Lets see those Hypsophrys Nicaraguensis (Nicaragua Cichlid)

Thanks:) I think my nic is a female. She was brown when I bought her and really colored up after a month. She is about 3" I think.
 
Yeah, that is definitely a female cichlidfish, and a good looking one at that!
 
My female has grown quite a bit and I have only had her for a few months. I feel they have a pretty average growth rate (not crazy fast, but not super slow) as long as there not spawning and are getting their fair share of food.
 
I used to have a female that grew quite quickly from the 3" mark. my male right now eats a lot and is the boss of the tank. the only fish he is scared of is my Male Honduran Red Point thats currently spawning in a cave with the female HRP. so as long as he avoids that cave hes fine.

My male that I had shipped was suppose to show up today, unfortunately he didn't.:( Hopefully he shows up tomorrow still hangin' in there as I'm not sure how he's going to fair 3 days in this colder weather...

I like your substrate mix a lot. Glad the male made it through 3 days of shipping. I honestly was expecting to hear it was DOA.

Thanks. It's just a mix of sand and pea gravel, probably about a 80/20 mix. I was pretty relieved he showed up alive, as I was expecting DOA as well. He's pretty pale looking as of now but I'm hoping he will color up once he settles in and gets some good food in his stomach. I'll be sure to post pics soon...

JK, about how big is your male Nic?

also Cjdesmit its good to hear that your male survived! some fish just aren´t good at handling shipping.
