Lets see those Hypsophrys Nicaraguensis (Nicaragua Cichlid)

Cichlidfish you have amazing stock. your fish are all so beautiful. any chance you could link me to a picture threa

also Cjdesmit its good to hear that your male survived! some fish just aren´t good at handling shipping.

Thanks, and can send you some pics. I also have a thread in the photo lounge.

Cjdeschmit-i really like your nic. Is that a Costa Rican? She has a lot of blue on her head.

Thanks. I honestly have no idea of her lineage as I got her from my LFS. They had her in their display tank for the longest time and one day I finally convinced them to let me have her. She didn't develop the blue until after I got her. She's only about 4" so I'm hoping she continues to color up.

Spartacus, good looking make Nic from what I could see. The vid made me a bit dizzy, lol. About how big is he, and at what size did he start to really color up and develop that big ol' knot on his head?

Well, I snapped a couple more pics. My female layed eggs last night and when I turned on the lights this morning she was all fired up. It was the first time I've ever seen her with the vertical barring. It was faint, but still noticeable. You can kind of make it out in the pic, but the barring faded quickly after the lights went on. I thought this pic was pretty funny, as she was not happy with me! She laid the eggs in the cave you see right below her, the same spot she laid them last time (about a month ago).

I also snapped a quick pic of my male; I'd guess he's about 5.5". He has great finnage, I just hope he colors up once he's feeling more comfortable in his new surroundings. He has already proceeded to dig a large pit in the back, left corner of the tank.

Thats a beautiful pair CJ! I love that male, I think hes already pretty colourful for a male. Mine seems to be developing some green on his cheeks which is pretty good. the males are always pretty bland compared to the females but a fully mature male should have lots of gold sparkles on his flanks. which is pretty cool!

Thanks! I'm sure he'll color up nicely once he settles in, and especially when I introduce him to my female. Your male is looking really good as well! I'm sure he'll be a looker once he puts some more size on.

Nice pair, and congrats on the spawn.

Thanks! The eggs are infertile as I haven't introduced the male yet. Otherwise, that would have been the fastest pairing/spawning ever! lol.

Does anyone have any experience pairing these guys up? I have heard they can be a bit picky when selecting a mate, so I am hoping my two take a liking to each other...
