Love those discus. I just started a discus tank with sand bottom also.newe70;2921922; said:tcarswell,
Corrrection...it is Jebo canister filter 838 not 388, typo. The Jebo filter is running great and very quite filter. Great value and works great. But the flow rate is rather weak though...that is why I upgraded to a FX5 filter abt. two weeks ago. I just sold two of them yesterday to one of the fellow members from here.
Here are a few more pix of my discus.
foldem,
I have pool filter sand for my substrate and I like it alot. Very easy to clean. I used to have gravel on my last 55g tank and did not like it. I am in the process of doing a low tech planted tank. Those plastics decors look kinda boring over time. I will have a punch of plants coming tomorrow. I will update the pix when ready.
Thx.
So let's see what's in your Discus tank stand...BrandonJ;3508954; said:Love those discus. I just started a discus tank with sand bottom also.
Very clean. So it keeps any blood shed under the stand in the stand eh....JK47;3508853; said:LMAO!! Hey man when the zombie mutants take over you guys will all be running around trying figure out what to do, me, I'll be chillin in front of the tank, nice and calm!
Thanks for the compliments guys. The white paint is a sealant. I ran a silicone bead all the way around the interior as well in case of leaks. Or if I stab myself with a screwdriver hooking up a filter. (speaks from experience)
Well, There is only 2 circuits. They are 'single outlet circuits'. I already had a Single outlet circuit in my kitchen(what luck) so we stole that first. Then we ran a new 15amp circuit from the breaker box through the floor into the living room, and wired one of the living rooms outlets into a single outlet circuit. 2 circuits, 30 amps. I could run it all on 1 circuit, but I would rather have 2 GFCI's on 2 seperate breakers. atleast only half my tank shuts down and I have lots of extra power for more tanks in my living roomtcarswell;3509866; said:wow , so you have it running off of how many other different circuits?
Do you know the load of each circuit that the power is drawn from? Im sure you did it right im just curious. Sucks when a pump fails etc when your gone or a GFCI trips and takes out an integral part.
Did you add these circuits?
What's the cardboard and foil wrapping for?chemicall;3509852; said:Ok here's my unfinished setup, but it works and runs great so far.(I still need to create chambers in my sump and add filter media, just wanted to get it working great first)
64 Watts of t4 lights I believe over the sump(so the light glows under the trim, used at night) and I have one plant down there...lol
70 Gallon tank.
30 gallon sump.
Magdrive 950, 3.5ft of head, 1.5" plumbing.
Two 1.5" DIY Overflows.(they aren't shown in these pics)
Dual GFCI's, 6 outlets off each GFCI(that's iincluding the 2 on the gfci). 30 Amps of total power for the tank, Each GFCI is on a seperate circuit in the house.
150GPH recirculation pump in the sump.
Digital Timer.
The 'light switch' is for the plug in beside it, which the Magdrive is on, easy off/on.
2 crappy 200 watt Tetra heaters(adjustable)
Since no media in the sump - yet. I have a emperor 280gph uptop on the tank, a tetra 350gph on the sump and my sumps recirculation pump runs into an old Aquaclear filter.
The long pipe wrapped with silver pipe wrap is the output from the overflow on the far side of the tank. This pipe really gets the air/water mixed up, as you can see from the output in one of the pictures below.
The cardboard backing at the back-top of the inside of the stand has carpet on the other side. I used this so I could easily slide them in/out when doing work, if need be.
