I HAVE A DREAM!!!! One of these days imma take a rubbermaid trash can. And get a rlly small whole screen on it put sand then gravel for filtration. And have a pump running water bak to tank. I thought of it wanna see if it works. If it does imma use that. Pretty much it will be a big sump. And mayb able to run 2 tanks off it.

why cant you make this rubbermaid trash can THE tank? thatd be pretty epic if you ask me....

A friend of mine uses that for his pond!
That carries quite some gallons!

Thanks ! Its funny originally I posted it. Noone replied. I bumped it and now were at page 50 lol tons of cool setups. Love looking through it.

Why ? What would be the filter then... another trashcan ? Been done

HOB filter would be perfect. always wanted to do that with some shubunkins in my garage, but bugs would get in there, and it would be hard to heat when its 0 outside :/

Yeah that would be expensive to heat. I always wanted to do the intex pool thing. Kind of like the garbage can but on a bigger scale.

My stand is mostly for storage. Just a light switch for the sump pump and some piping.

Mine all takes place in the mudroom next door that sits about 4 foot lower than the room the tank is in.

It's a work in progress. One of these days I'll get it finished.

Do you keep that "sponge filter" in the pre-filter chamber so it is seeded, if it needs to be used?

I was thinking to do the same thing, so I had a ready filter for a hospital tank.

I figure a large sponge and small powerhead would run a 20g tank for fish repair.

Indeed my friend. I am also seeding 6 bags of Aquaclear BioMax on top of my 40L of Siporax.
