What is the stand made of?

The stand is made of a few different things. The legs have metal posts inside of them and the outside is solid wood. The top and the lower shelves are both thick wood with a weird plastic like paint on them. The bottom of the of the legs (under the lower shelf) are pure wood and although I didn't have to do this I believe that they can be tightened or loosened to level the tank. The guy said it was the most expensive part of the tank when be bought it all new so I assume he paid a lot.

Very cool stand ! And nice tank as well good choice on the filter. my 90 gallon stand is too small for an FX5 too. I got noone to blame but me though I built it :screwy: my other tank had plenty of space underneath so luckily I could put it to use at least. :grinno:

We have two really nice stands for our 75's. They were about three hundred bucks a piece. They now have holes cut in the bottom in the shape of a C-360. LOL who makes a stand that won't fit a normal-size canister filter underneath? And who buys the stand without measuring the opening first? Oh, yeah, that would be the powerhouse team that is my husband and I.... :D

lol at least you didnt BUILD it to find out its too short  I gotta make another one. Everyone here seemed to like the way the first one came out and I literally slapped it together with scrap lumber. Maybe a nice tall one with columns would be cool :headbang2

Thats cool. Its a hyper powered UGF ? Badass. Any more details or pics ?
sorry for the delay , My internet is microwave and has been down since sunday AM. It is indeed a UGF on steroids.
I wish i could take all the credit but my 70 year old neighbor came up with this basic setup 30 years ago. When he gave my wife the tank 8 months ago he suggested that I resist the urge to change it as he claimed it was low maintenance and trouble free. Given that it was in continuous operation untill I disassembled it for transport I thought it would be filthy under the UGF. Amazingly it was relatively clean. Unfortunately it didn't occur to me to photograph the buildup and I didn't find MFK till later.
Mechanically I stepped up to a slightly larger pump and moved the filters and heater from the suction side to the pressure side of the pump. I also changed the filter arrangement from series to parrallel. The tank has 4 equally spaced 3/4" pipe ports in the bottom. Three were and still are the suctions for the pump. The fourth port was the water return with about 8" of pipe sticking up into the tank. I changed this and now use it as a connection between the vacuum pump and the air wand/stones. The return is now to the top of the tank thru a DIY spray bar (see Photo in post).
In my opinion the coolest part of this setup is the lack of plumbing and equipment visible in the tank and the absense of noise. The tank is virtually silent in the house.

Lets keep this thread going guys.... ;)

This is a very simple set up. I ran my 125 gallon on sponge alone for quite a while but just upgraded to an FX5 on this tank too. Love these filters...

Here is my filtration for my 90g:
ECCO 2236 chemical filtration to a turbo twist uv sterilizer
Eshopps WD150-CS modified wet/dry
