Hey thanks for the replies guys. I was having the same problem as you special Ed, so I just have both overflows connected to one line that goes directly into the fx5. I also try and make sure the water level is somewhat high in the tank so more water gets into the actual overflow.

I wouldnt be happier with the 2 fx5's. I really disliked the sump becuase it smelled awful and was loud. The fx5's are almost completly silent. The only real noise in the room comes from the retarted HOB filter that my wife has on her 10g goldfish tank underneath. If you are still having issues special Ed just restrict the flow a little that goes into the fx5. I know this is not optimal, but it will work.

The other fx5 I have plumbed through a hole that I cut in the acrylic. I did this so I could have the intake closer to the bottom of the aquarium in order to collect waste. I would really recommend this.

JK47, I would keep this aquarium the way it is plumbed in a bedroom in a heartbeat. The only reason I didnt put it in the bedroom was becuase it would have made waterchanges a nightmare. Right now I just siphon the water out my sliding glass door into the yard and then throw on the garden hose to refill it. To easy.

I was worried about drilling the tank becuase it reduces resale value and voids the tenecor warranty or whatever, but I just decided that this was the tank I always wanted and Im going to keep it for a very long time. and thanks to some really great information from this site I felt confident in not cracking it.

I ended up just using the normal intake for the fx5 in the end. I have both overflows flowing into my sump. The sump returns to one side and the fx5 to the other. However, now I'm considering using the actual fx5 return and putting it in the middle and adding another pump in the sump. Not that I really need the extra flow, but I have an extra pump, so why not. :nilly:

Thanks so much for the recommendation  I really appreciate it! Keep an eye on this thread soon, you'll see it in action. Man I wish I could use the garden hose. :( I have to mix RO so WC's are allot more complicated lol. At least my bedroom has a bathroom with a sink.

What are the cylinders in the chamber before the pump?

They are a bio media known as Bakki or bacteria house media.

Here is some reading on the product, I believe its one of the best filter media available on todays market but is quite expensive at AU$400 for 10KG...
