Yeah, I agree. With the proper protocol, freshwater to freshwater works. The emphasis though is on maintaining good water quality and not over feeding. Hungry fish are healthy fish. I think making the presumption that your feeders are diseased and acting accordingly is prudent. Just elevating the salt to .6 - .8% in quarantine makes a big difference. Also, with all goldfish, feeders and fancy, flukes are a problem and usually the last parasite standing. Prazi makes sense, but Oddball has it down and has seen enough feeders to know the difference between a batch that is good and one that should be avoided.

sometimes feeders can get expensive so for those of you who have a garbage diposal type fish ,where they eat a crap load , tractor supply has a 40 pound bag of goldfish/koi/fish food most fish eat it its about 7 bucks im shure most other feed stores will have somthin similar i do both i have 3 500 gallon water troughs with feeders both the feeders and pellets work great

Any baitfish you are allowed to cast net in your area should suffice as feeders for most fish. Personally, I can't wait for the day people start breeding saltwater killifish as feeders. (If any of you want to take that idea and run with it go ahead)

I catch mosquitofish out of a ditch next to my dorm. I just throw them in without QT and they're gone in a few minutes. I haven't seen a problem result from it yet. Plus they don't cost a dime.

tilapias and clarias will have a large advantage in growth if fed live. I have raised several of each species.

Though Paroon sharks rarely will eat smaller fish, so my experiments with them are rather limited.

also, the reason why aquacultures dont feed live is because its not economical OR practical

You should try feeding 3 Clownknifes, 2 Tiger shovelnose catfish, and 2 Florida Gars. All of them loving feeder goldfish, talk about getting big fast!:WHOA:
