Lots of pics past and present

That's the trouble with fish keeping, there is always a compromise.
Yep. If my knives get problematic with each other then ill get some black sand, wood and thoricthys :)

Just took delivery of a group of young Theraps lentigosum. They are only youngsters about an inch long.I have them in my 4 foot grow out tank along with some thorichthys helleri fry that are about half inch. They will all be added to my 7x2x2 once they are big enough.

Not yet but I will be.They have developed the unfortunate habit of feeding on each others scales.I have known veija do this before, once the habit starts there is nothing you can do to stop it.
The 7 foot will just be home to the Lents a large group of helleri and the swordtails.
My meeki will go in the 4 foot, once all the fry are gone.

Do the lents need a high water flow?
Fast to moderate flow, high oxygen levels are more important.Although they are considered a riverine species,Rusty Wessel Ad konings and Jaun artigas azas went on a fish collecting trip in Mexico and we're surprised to find lentigosum living and breeding in Lake mirimar.
They must have made their way down a tributary. So they can do well in slower flow rates as long as the oxygen content is high.

Interesting choice. I'm not familiar with lents. Sorry to hear that about your Vieja.

Are you going to post some shots of the new setup soon?

Being a biotope fan the choice was made for me. Lentigosum can be found living along side thorichthys helleri in the wild.
I also am drawn to cichlids that live in group's so they tick both boxes for me.

I have started stripping my 7x2x2 down of its decor just to catch those bloody melanura.
I will share some pics once it's all put back and I'm happy with it again.

I won't be adding any more veija once they are gone.
It will just be the thorichthys, whose numbers I will bulk up.
The Lents and more otapa swordtails. I think you can over do it,two cichlid species per tank is enough for me.
