Lots of pics past and present

Thanks Steve,
I must admit I will miss my thorichthys. I will have to look at your threads to remind me what I'm missing.

Thanks, I'll be sure to post pics lol.

I understand completely.

I feel like I need a change. I find myself reading and looking at wild type livebarers. Some of my cichlids will go to make room eventually.

I have been looking at various other options for a while now.
Was looking at polys, dwarf snake heads and puffer fish as various options that caught my interest.
A member of the forum offered the stingray and I really fancied one. I'm glad I took the plunge,it's a really cool fish to own. It's also the first fish I've had that the wife has took an interest in.
Metynnis are also a fish I really like and they make great tank mates for rays.I may add some peaceful s/a cichlids eventually, for now I'm enjoying the peace a non cichlid tank can bring.
I still have my lents and otapa swordtails, so I'm still keeping one foot in the c)a cichlid camp.

Rays really have a charm to them. As do cichlids but my Salvini was an ass so he had to go.

Have you ever dived into Africans such as pelvachromis and the likes? Non-rift lake cichlids? I'm tempted to try some A.Thomasi or wild pelvachromis at some point which I can get (at a price!)

Another fish with charm are African knives, a bit shy but as I decorate the tank I see them more. You can't say no to this face :p

Yes Hendre,I have kept a few pelvichromis, hemichromis and various tilapia.
I really like the look of pelvichromis transvestitus, I would love a group of those one day.
I think West Africa has a vast array of interesting fish and I keep saying I will set a biotope up for some of them.
Unfortunately you can't do it all. But we can certainly try.

Nice knife.

Oh that's cool, I have access to that krib species but wild caught are rare. The importer gets CB German lines sometimes. They are listed as nanochromis now apparently.

I would include cichlids in my biotope, but I'm worried anything big enough to avoid the planned polys mouths will bully my knives
anyway the bottom will be filled

Thanks, I highly recommend them. Awesome fish and I'm sure with your scaping skills you could set up a great African Tank!

Thanks Hendre, one day mate, one day.

Do you have pics of the cichlids you mentioned? I would love to see them :)

No mate,I'm going back probably 20 years, before I even had a phone with a camera.
Now I sound like an old fart don't I?
