Funny how the VATF has the 'football' shape starting already even at that small of a size. Not sure if I'd notice it so much if he wasn't right next to the TATF, but it's noticeable to me in the side by side pics. There are definite subtle keys to pick up on between the different tigers, just have to look at a whole lot of them to see it I guess.

I really hope all of your ATFs go to someone else on this forum, so we can keep this influx of younger ones here and keep multiple journals on them. Hopefully with all of us, we can get a lot more info together on these guys as they grow. You being the central person for the info, of course ;)

Nice! You better believe I'll be following this thread after my most recent acquisition.

What's you tank set-up for these guy right now? I'm curious about the size/filtration you're comfortable with for these guys at this size.
I have my two in a 55 gallon filtered by an AC110 and with current provided by a Hydor Koralia 1400. They seem to do well. I would much rather have them in my 150 to grow out, but between the scomb and the juruense catfish, they would be eaten. The plan was to transfer them over once they got to about 6". The goliath doesn't bother anyone, I'm not worried about him.

I hope someone who posts regularly buys them as well. I'd love to watch them grow up.

You guys are making this decision hard. :'<

Well after doing thread after thread of pics of updates on my Hydrocynus goliath, Mad Max, I figure I might as well consolidate my pics into one thread. I've had this fish since April 2012 and I am fairly confident that I'll have him for a long time to come. It might be cool to see if I can document this guy from a two inch baby into a two foot monster! As of the time of the writing of this thread, he's living in a 150 growout but I have a 525 DIY tank that I have been slowly but surely building. Stay tuned for a updates on that.

As of the time of this post, he's between 10-11 inches long and is getting very dark coloration. I'm very pleased with my fish. He has great personality and will even beg for food! Everything in my fish keeping world right now is centered on the needs of this fish. In the future, all of my updates on this fish and any new pics will be in this thread. Enjoy! :)

On to the good stuff...

The day the mailman brought him to me from Aquascape, 18 April 2012. He's 2.5 inches in this pic.

9 June 2012. This was right after I got him eating pellets. He's about 4 inches and exploded in growth after this point.

It was a tatauaia. I sold him at 8". He's actually not being picked up until tomorrow. They get along with no issues what so ever. :)
