Hi there...:grinno::grinno::grinno::grinno::grinno:

I just wanna share with y'all pics of wallago leeri caught here in Malaysia....(Bintulu river fishing trip)

There are two types of wallago leeri in Malaysia....one is with darker body color and has black dots...while the other one is more lighter in color (almost yellow).....but both are the same....ferocious and strong fighter too!!! :naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty:

Name: Wallago leeri
Local name (Malay): Tapah....Tapah Lilin (the yellow one...coz color similar to the candle...hmmm)
Location caught: Bintulu Sarawak, Malaysia
Method: By using lures....trolling along the river.

The video version....see how big the fish is
Believe me...this one can swallow a whole of you...hehehe

Views at the jetty....Bintulu river (look at the condition of the water...very murky ehh)

does anyone keep these in tanks?

Thanks for your reply...:D:D

By the way...me my self do keep one specimen at home....but i dont keep it in tank (put it in my water garden pond which is big enough for the fish to grow up..hehee).....

I keep it together with my Redtail GiantGourami, Albino GiantGourami, Sultana barbs, Emperor Snakehead (Channa Marulloides), Tinfoil Barbs and Irridiscent Sharks (Pangasius Sanitwongsei & Pangasius Pangasius).

Hmm to answer your question...YES there are some people who keep them in tanks.....but to find this fish in the local fish shop here in Malaysia...very very DIFFICULT!!

Infact in terms of the JUMBO size it can be...normally its very rare to find people keep it.Only a few aquaria got it....U want one?

the one in youtube was huge! how big is it?
yaa.. hard to find tapah for sale in lfs. but found 2 tapah for sale about 20inch in sg buluh lfs. price rm200.00++ :D

THere's more great pictures of "Hunting Wallago Leeri at Its Original Habitat"...Malaysia truly Asia (Land of Monster Beast Fish)....yahoooooo!!!!!:naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty:

:FIREdevil:FIREdevil:FIREdevil

Max size can go up to 4 meters....there's lots of stories here in Malaysia where this fish has been eaten small mammals (dogs/cats/goats/monkeys...even small children who like to swim near the river):grinno::grinno::grinno:

Wait for other pics....

This one is not Wallago Leeri....but another species...but still in catfish category. In Malaysia we call it begahak or gahak or vampire fish(ikan pontianak).....because of its very very sharp teeth!!!

This one caught in Pahang river, Malaysia.
