Yea you can definitely tell he is going to be a stunner, my camera and skills don't do them justice... When he's at the perfect angle of light his fins look so long and they have a tint of yellow. I truly can't wait to see their fry!

awesome! This cross should "enhance" the marbling in future fry if you breed them properly. Marbled convicts marble repeatedly, hence they will differ. What I would love to see is a large marbled convict line. The few rare large marbled convict males I have seen are breath-taking.

Thanks for the info, I'm hoping to start a nice trait even though he's breeding with a non marble. But sooner or later I'll get a pair of marbles :)
But for now I'm very happy with this stunning pair.
 
I'm thinking this pair will throw some marbled fry. About half of the fry will be white (or pink) and some of these white ones will be marbled. You should get some awesome fry from this pair either way.
 
Here's a little update video for the ones following the thread :)

You can definitely tell the female is ready to lay (I'm hoping), her ovipositor is clearly showing.

Little update for you guys, a TON of digging has been going on lately so either we have some eggs hidden in the cave or it'll happen soon!

I can almost guarantee there are eggs in there just going by how fast the female returns to the cave and amount of time she spends in it. Going to be cool seeing the little pair with fry swimming around them.
 
You my friend are dead on! I shined a flashlight and saw something wiggle across the bottom of the cave but it's a fry! Then I awkwardly angle myself around the tank and saw HUNDREDS of eggs! I saw about two or three of them trying to swim on the ground but most of them were stuck to the wall. I only got one picture of one of the fry which is hard to see but as soon as they move out of the cave get ready for some pictures! When do you think these guys were laid?

If may look like a spec of dirt but I swear I can watch it swim back and forth! :D

Awesome! If they are just now hatching eggs were probably laid late Friday. Wonder how many eggs the little female laid?
 
I saw at least hundred in one spot but I saw her pecking up on the roof of the cave. I can't see up top so maybe she laid more? Their next spawn we hopefully be in the clay pot since I plan on removing the cave.
