Instead of being the prefilter in the wet/dry wouldn't you want the finest filter it the end of the line? Tie the bag on the input back to the tank from the sump to give it a final polish?
.
That is exactly my "doubt"!! It would make sense for the bag to be the finals tage on the return, yes!!

ime............you should do all mechanical filtering first...then bio filtering....if nothing else it keeps the 'crap' out of the bio filter :)

Yes, I totally agree. Why do the mech. filtering last? That makes no sense. Your bio media would be filled with crap in no time. You could put say, a 100 micron as a prefilter, and maybe a 25 micron after bio, for really fine "polishing" that would work OK.

That company might be a useful resource for filter bags...
Yes, they work fine. I've used them. Thing is that they are the felt type. While they can be washed, they start coming apart after a couple of washes. Best to buy the 50 or 100 count deal, and just replace the used one with a new one. I prefer the nylon screen type. The screen type can be easily be rinsed and reused over and over. I'm cheap, so this saves me money. :D

Filterbag.com (pong 100 P4P) 100 micron, polypropylene felt filter bag with plastic ring, size 4, 25 bag min. @ $2.46 each. Note: these are the felt type bags. The ones that I prefer come from aquaticeco.com #N2100, Standard bag, 100 micron, nylon material, $5.48 each. They also have a plastic ring. Rinse these and reuse over and over.
