What type of bars You hanging out at Eddie? None of my bars here charge a cover. And shame on you sumo for streaming. That's the reason these cards got so watered down. If I don't make it to Bdubs or Beefs I just read play by play like an adult

B dub charges 5 buck cover here.....no standing room. A few years back i was in Portland watching a laker playoff game and rampage headlined a card that night, they kicked out everyone who wasn't watching the basketball game and started letting cover paying customers in until the basketball game was over. Then turned off all the tv and kicked anyone without a bracelet out.

That's nuts. There used to be an amazing Mulligan's pub here. Big fat Irish owner who loved to drink beer. He started a free poker game every Wednesday for a bar tab prize. After I won it 5 weeks in a row he made me a permanent dealer and I got to drink for free during the tournaments. He always had free ufc fights on. Then he sold out after a couple years and moved to south FL. New owner had a $10 cover, on the floor section where the projectors were was 20. Portions got smaller. Prices went up. They closed less than a year later. I still miss that bar. It was my UFC go too and right next to my gf's work so I could always have a DD

If I had a go to like that that didnt charge cover id watch it in public. Hell, if i owned a martial art dojo id have viewing parties and just charge for a couple bucks a head

how does streaming affect the cards?

watered down cards are due to them having over 500 fighters on their roster and one or multiple events every single month

You answered your own question. They are loosing tons of profit to streaming. So in an effort to keep profits up they have to put out more cards to keep profits up. Not only do they loose money on lost sales but the also have to spend money in legal fees fighting people doing the streaming. Pirating music didn't completely alter the music industry. Movies haven't changed at all because of bootleggers...

lol. So a few million cheap people watching on their computer instead of going to a bar or friend who pays no matter what, makes them create more PPV with crappy cards? Let's face it, bootleggers wouldn't be paying full amount anyways....and UFC aint getting paid any extra for 300 in a bar then they would 2 at a bar or friends house

being around mma forums a lot, the complaint is that the cards gotten too frequent with too many weak matches that has caused many to stop buying the ppv

many are also getting fed up with giving people undeserved title shots and bs rematches that tie up a division for like a year.

I personally think it's the watered down cards that are causing drop in ppv buys and not the other way around. that and the popularity of the sport has plateaued for a couple of years now.

especially since their hugest draws are now gone. gsp is in limbo while Anderson silva will probably never be champ again. nick diaz can draw numbers but he's in Stockton whining about fighter pay and only wants huge fights and a raise even though he signed a contract to get paid a certain amount.

chael is now retired, that only leaves bones and ronda to be their biggest draws right now.

believe me, dana white is crapping bricks and praying that bones and ronda don't lose any upcoming fights
