Quick update: got the tiles in for my substrate and had them cut to size yesterday. They are glossy black 2'x2' tiles. Special ordered at Lowes, $3.29/sqft. I think they look good and will make the tank easier to keep clean.

I like bare bottom tanks, and I was planning on painting the bottom of the tank black (from the outside glass). But, the bottom glass is too scratched up, so I had to cover the bottom with something and this was the next best thing.

My only concern is dookie getting trapped under the tiles. I guess it's no biggie as long as you vaccuum under there once in a while tho...

yeah thats somethign ill have to do every now and then. the tiles fit together tightly, so i dont think too much stuff will get down in there, so i dont see it being too big of a problem

Looks great! I really like the chinese symbols! You can alway seal the seams of the tiles with silicone.

That's a good idea... you'd still have some trapped gases tho...
