Nice job on this. 1 question that I didn't see the answer to when I read through the thread. What did you use to seal the glass to the tank?
I read here http://goldfishkeepers.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-2409.html that they don't suggest using Zavlar and Silicone together but to use 3M™ Marine Adhesive/Sealant 5200 with Zavlar.

I used GE 2 XST paintable formula .. I then sealed it with 6 coats of Zavlar since the silicon isnt safe for fish (additives to make it paintable)

Nice i like the ideas of the garbage cans they look really good under a tank. And you dont see anything in there which i like so it will stay hidden for the time being. Great build hope it goes well.
