Very nice....

I am closing in on that fateful moment when I have to make a decision on the sealant I am gonna use. I am leaning to the rubber for it's flexability and not cracking if the tank is moved. However.... I have only heard theories on sealing the glass. Watching to see how it works for you

Good Luck...

How's the smell on that stuff? Do you have to evacuate the house when "painting" it on? It looks like you may be in the garage/basement etc but curious none the less??????

hey ross, do you have any pictures of the top bracing. Also, does the silicone adhere well to the pond coat?

I was wondering if it would be better to install the glass first, then paint the pond coat on, or vice versa

I have not completed the top bracing yet. I think I am going to run a single aluminum brace in the center from front to back and then cover the entire top with another sheet of plywood and cut out openings for the lights and tank excess. The aluminum was an afterthought, I was going with just the wood but then decided if I ever wanted to remove the wood to get into the tank to add or remove something, I didn't want to lose all of the support if the tank was full of water. As far as installing glass and pond coating over it, I have heard that pond coat does not adhear well to glass underwater. I am going to build a smaller tank to test sealing the glass with pond coat and see what happens. My pump and filter sock assemblies as supposed to be here tomorrow so I should get the sump about finished by Thursday. I will post more pictures then. I did stick a piece of glass to a board with pond coat, cant get the glass off without breaking it. Same holds true for acrylic, and a hunk of wood I glued to the board.

so the glass bonded veru well to the pond coat.

if you can test it, if we can just just apply the glass to the pond coat, with no silicone

I did bond a small piece of glass to a piece of wood with pond coat and no silicone and it stuck like a champ. I cant get the glass off the wood without breaking it. I have heard that pond coat on glass will break down once submerged in water so I am not willing to test that on a 300G tank. I do plan on building a small tank out of plywood and using pond coat to seal in a glass and an acrylic viewing window to see what happens. I am going to have to wait for the weather to warm up a bit so this project can sit outdoors.
