The web cam looks great are you putting it online for all the world to see?
i guess I could but I don't keep my PC on all the time. Not sure how to go about doing that either.

Plus I don't have much stock going in. In the beginning all that's going to be in there are 3 ATF's and a bunch of feeders.

thats cool i had a Dlink Network cam set up on my cichlids for a while. How is the glass corner without support holding up with the pressure ?
No problems. I didn't expect any either. It doesn't bow, no cracks or leaks of any kind. When I installed the glass the sides of the tank didn't allow for a perfectly square corner between the glass so the silicone had to bridge the gap. The gap was almost 1/4" wide at the top and no issues.

The last water test had 10ppm Nitrites and 120ppm Nitrates. So hopefully in a week or two I'll be able to move the ATFs.

Well bad news. I discovered a pin hole leak on the bottom of the outside. It is oozing very slowly and maybe a drop every 5 minutes. Nevertheless it's a leak. That' means I'll have to tear the whole tank down and reseal it. This is a 3 month set back!

The tank was pretty much done cycling and I was going to move fish into it this weekend. It's a good thing it showed up now instead of after I moved the fish in. Now I have to get rid of two 8" ATF's. Any takers? $300 each.

Dang that sucks, you should be able to preserve your cycle using a rigged up filter that pools water from a trash can or something and just continue the fishless cycle so you don't loos the time.

Since the leak is so small I think I could just try to cut out the silicone on the inside of the tank and reseal. I'm not going to take out the glass and totally reinstall. From the GE I that I used it looks like it's starting to degrade somewhat. It doesn't seem as pliable as the side not exposed to water. I may want to use aquarium silicone on the inside this time.

Bummer about the leak- hope you're able to fix it.

A few questions for you about heating the tank (You mentioned you were running two 1,000 watt heaters?):

1. What brand are they?
2. Are they able to keep the temps up?
3. You mentioned the water was down to 60 degrees in April...how cold was the ambient air temperature?
4. Any idea how often they are on? I'm looking to set up a big tank but with electrical rates what they are here in CA, I'm guessing it's going to cost me a few hundred dollars a month just to maintain 78F.

I was able to get the temps up to around 86 *F. It took a while during winter but as the weather warmed up it only took about 3 days. I've drained the tank 3 times for various reasons and refilled during different seasons. So the incoming starting water temps were different. Don't know how often it is on but as it reached final temp it maintained it fairly easily. I did notice an increase in my electric bill but it could have been various other reasons and not necessarily caused by the heater.
