My 650g plywood tank also Wetsuit

Ah yes I noticed soon after I posted that. In order to take full advantage of your drain pipes, you would need to create a siphon. As water drain out of your tank the air in the drainage pipes tries to escape upwards and the water is slowed by only traveling on the outsides of the pipes. If you allowed air to enter/exit above the T member where it leads to the sump that would allow more flow but also create some noise.

ps im jealous of your build! Definitely inspiration to DImyself someday.

thats a great looking tank thinking of building one myself in the range of 300-500 gallons though! cant wait to see the rest of the build

All I can say is wow.... The build looks bad azz!! If i recall... I think you can actually buy a flow meter from home depot or lowes? Is small and fairly inexpensive. My brother is a plumber and i have seen him use them before. I dont know it that helps AT ALL.... But i just thought i would make the suggestion!

Thanks, that's a good tip. If I get to the point where I need to check flow rates I'll check it out.:headbang2

Success!!! I'm happy to report the flow problem has been solved. I filled the tank up completely covering the top of the overflow and the flow rate increased dramatically. I guess when only half of the pipe was full it's only going to flow half as much. :screwy:

I also rebuilt my web camera with a much improved housing this time. (ie no leaks :headbang2) The only problem now is the resolution is too low because my usb/ethernet adapter is not usb 2.0. Once I upgrade that I'll be able to see in HD!

Thanks. It works pretty well. If there was one thing I would do different is find a wide angle camera. Although that may not be easy to do.

I do quite a bit of photography. You can build a wide angle lens cheap with a door peep-hole assembly. That might be something to consider adding on to that camera.

Great tank. I am Glad you got all the flow issues worked out.

Got some more ideas I need to go mull over now....
