Because I left off on the hood I'll show you the rest of that.
The doors are just going to lift from the top. Since the tank isn't that tall I wanted a nice flush front of the hood vs putting doors that open out.
I thought Handles on the top of the wood would look ugly so I got these wood mushroom nubs and drilled a hole through the lid so the mushroom would sit in the hole and I put a plastic washer and srewed into the handle from the underside of the hood door. Now it looks like this.
And to open the lid I pull on the nub and the washer catches on the other side.
I've got more for today, but I'll post it in a little bit.
After I had all main pieces put together I put some trim on the top of the stand and bottom of the hood.
Full Pic with trim
Then I put some real simple trim on the front side of the stand.
Next comes the Doors.
I put the same trim as I did on the front of the stand on the doors. I glued and nailed the trim only on the door but let it over hand slightly so it covered the gap between the door and stand. The trim opens with the door.
Then I put the handles on. My wife picked these out cause they "look fishy"
Thanks.........No DIY Sump. I purchased a sump online but I did the overflow and it works great.
I would def. use your sticky for help if I did build it thgouh. I actually have an extra 30 gallon tank I coulda used. Oh well. next time. Or maybe I'll build it just for fun!!!
