King Edward is right about regular car batteries. What you want if they are within the budget are deep cycle batteries. They last for years and can be recharged over and over. Regular car batteries will give out a lot sooner even if trickle charged. That may be what the forklift batteries are--I am not familiar with them. Most deep cycles I have seen are in use as marine batteries. I have them in my fishing boat to run my electric motor.
Yes. I know is right. But they are more expensive. I don't know yet what i'm going to do.

Thank you.

By the way, I wanted to add that this is a most impressive project. I have been watching this thread in amazement for some time. My home is actually on a hillside like yours and my wife is scared to death I am going to try something like this (showed her your thread a while ago) but I think it is beyond my modest DIY abilities. Nice work.

I dug a little more into the windmill information. The windmill was ordered out of a catalog and works in unison with a solar panel. I dont think just a windmill will be enough to keep a charge on the battery. The setup on the island has a generator that I forgot about. While the windmill and soal panel will do most of the work ussually it does require a little work from the generator. So maybe not the best solution for you for this application.

Another idea I just had though...the waterfall type of idea I think might be the easiest way to airate the water rather than actaully introducing bubbles into the water. Do the tanks have something for water overflow? I was thinking that you could use your same water filling solution to supply water to a "waterfall" type device. If the container was all black the water would probably self heat itself and then it can gravity flow down into the tanks. You can regulate the flow of water with the size of the hole in the rain water collector. Just an idea...

If you had concerns of the water dropping in temp you could put it in a box painted black and fill it with insulation to keep it warm at night etc. Or just keep the holding tank in the green house somewhere. I dont know how your solar water heater works, but if you could loop the heated water coming out of that to the water fall it would already be heated and wouldnt required any additional water. How do you get the water from the heater back into the tank or from the tank into the heater. One has to be higher than the other I would think if you used gravity to feed or drain the water.

Ever since I read this thread I feel like I cant stop thinking about it haha! I want to see it completed and running 100% I hope our suggestions help :)

Some catfish farms use paddle wheels to aerate the ponds...

You can't stop thinking about it and i'm always thinking on how to improve my setup maintaining the costs low and echological:D

I think it will never be "completed and running 100%" because i'm always thinking and doing something new. The problem is that i don't live there and i only have some weekends to take care and to do new things. But until the end of this summer i must have this part of the green house closed and running.

All the suggestions are valid and help. That's why i show you all, my work.:naughty:
