I was thinking of adding pureigen to my canister instead of zeolite yesterday as the zeo is old , does pureigen leech toxins back into the tank after a while like zeolite does or does it hold it within itself ? (If that makes sense lol )

I'm pretty sure it retains all the stuff it absorbs because when it's full, tannin stains in my tank increase very gradually. If it leeched them my tank would probably look like black coffee after a day lol. It's good for removing tiny particles aswell because the bag it comes in has 20 micron pores. I think that's about half the size of a human hair.

I have 2 small bags and one big one that way I can just change it over when I change my filter wool... Don't need to wait for the bleach to clean it out.

The bleach method isn't too bad but to be safe I only use half the concentration they recommend... Around 25%. It's just so time consuming that's why I have additional bags

Yeah he's still feeding really well considering his lip. Healing up very quickly. I just got back from my lfs to buy some more stress guard in anticipation of his next stunt.

I'm trying to focus on settling him in properly once and for all in the hope of bringing his colour back

I'm sure his colour is changing due to stress mate he'll be OK , have you thought about floating plants real or fake as a bit of cover ? I used to use three plastic pond Lillie's with my old jar stopped him jumping as much whilst stressed out and spooked

What I did was cut up some of my excess background and stuck it to my lids/bracing on top in an attempt to create a shadow effect. Doesn't do very well for shadowing because of the fluoro light but it seems to have minimised his aerial displays

He's still a bit skittish but at least he's not trying to jump through the lids anymore. Lip healed up real good barely a mark left. A few days ago the original owner came over and was shocked to see the colour change. He told me that if it wasn't for the white mark on the front of his snout he would have thought I switched fish lol.

He's still eating but not in typical jardini fashion... More of a gentle inhaling motion. Still has his washed out colours hopefully will improve in the near future. DSC_0065.JPGDSC_0063.JPG
