It could go either way IMO mate he'll either eat them and then become hooked on live foods making it hard to pellet train in future , or he'll swim about with some small new tankmates shocking him further into hunger strike
Personally I wouldn't bother with live its a nightmare getting jars off feeders its like crack to them lol
, I'd give him a bit more time maybe a few more starve days if he's looking fit and strong still then try pellets and fresh etc again
As for the passing of disease I'd monitor that closely any signs of anything even white spot and quarantine the scat , try up the temp slightly to slow down WS life cycle and kill it off
