I've had some togas that were quite placid but nothing like this guy lol. I've also had others that got excited if I walked past the tank holding a bag (probably thinking feeders will be dropped in haha). He hasn't had a go at my bristlenose yet either so I'm just guessing he's a real mellow fish.

Bottom feeders you say... Almost encourages me to get another ray

Lol another ray is definitely out of the question right now. I got so much driftwood in my tank the poor thing wouldn't be able to move. I'd probably have to change my purigen on a weekly basis aswell. I was actually thinking of adding some bullrout - freshwater stonefish, but not any time soon.

Now he's back to eating like a champ. Hopefully his darkness will start to come back when he settles in again.

That's great news mate , you see even if you get one that's not a killer they still don't want tankmates lol :D , im sure after a few months of claiming the tank you'll be ok to try again

He is still a bit skittish but I'm pretty sure he'll be fine if I give him time. I'm really just glad he's eating normally again - he chases pellets from one side of the tank to another now.

You wouldn't believe it... He had another tantrum a few hours ago and now he's go a busted lip (f****ing great). So now the water is salted up again and I don't expect him to eat for a while again. Before that he was demolishing every thing I put in

Bummer mate :( bloody jardini I don't know why we bother mines just took a chunk off my flowerhorns kok :banghead:
Have you tried just using melafix and plenty of oxygen instead of salt ? Its always worked a great with mine and it saves you raising the salt content in your water

TBH since I started keeping rays I've looked for alternatives to meds. The only things I add to my water now are SAFE, stress coat and salt. Also, because I've got purigen in my canister to absorb wood tannins medications probably wouldn't be all that effective. I do have a fairly big air pump for the tank and have been using it... Keeps me awake at night lol.

Just got home from work now and tried some pellets and krill. He took the krill but was so gentle about it - very un-toga like.
