I think glass is the way to go for your build. Although you can look into the corrugated clear panels they use on shed roofs? I think they are 2X4 foot? I think that's what VDDesign uses on his 1500???

Thanks egon i totally forgot about the delglas.

i bought all the switches and outlets. i hope 8 outlets will be enough. if not thats what they make power stripes for. Once i get some free time ill wire it.

well since i drilled and painted im pretty stuck on filtration witch im sure will be plenty.

200ish lr of matrix With Filter sock
2 ultima 2,000's
2 eheim 2262

Thats at full compacity
if i can get away with just a OHF i will. itll all be on the tests.

Also i picked up r13 insulation for 8 bucks the next price level 43$ for r33. i am putting a laying of plastic over the insultaion witch will help. then facing it with left over 3/4 wood. if i run out ill face the whole thing in cheap stuff.

just put down another coat and will put the last and final coat tonight. putting blue on blue was incredibully diffucult. i know i missed places.

insultating the tank will be stupid easy. but im not going to rush anything because i wont be able to afford the acrylic and filters until summer anyway. but my goal is only to insert acrylic, and plug filters. everything else will be done.

I have to say so far this was easier then i thought it would be. just not looking forward to lifting this tank to put it on its face for when i put acrylic in.

Is there a reason you have to flip the tank? If it is not absolutely nessacery i would avoiding doing so

i have two space heaters in the tank.

i honestly could care less about the flaws since this tank is for me and now one else. but the reason this came abou is the glass will sit on a 2 by 4 and the edges were rounded off and i didnt bondo them. so i tried to fill it and it leaked all over the floor. just waiting for 12 hours for it to dries is a killer. my basement was colder then 75 for most of it.

i left he gallon and a half outside so maybe i can use it tomarrothe w if im lucky. sweet water please dont harden outside.
Garhog mentioned epoxy curing with heat and that thicker dries faster. Just wanted to clarify that Sweetwater is a solvent based epoxy paint so there is not only the endothermic (heat producing) reaction but also an evaporative process as the solvents offgass. With a 100% solids system like West Systems there is only the endothermic reaction and no evaporation.

So in most cases it is better to apply solvent based epoxy paints in thinner coats than thicker and they (thin coats) will cure much faster.

I think the recommended wet film thickness for Sweetwater is 4 mils. But don't trust me on this, double check yourself.

For reference, a 4 mil wet film thickness on a perfectly smooth surface the size of a sheet of plywood is equal to about a tenth of a gallon. First coats on bare plywood would require a lot more than this since the solvents carry the solids so far into the pores of the wood.
