totally agree, besides its a hefty fine as well, even transporting native fish from one water source to the next water source is illegal....

i recently heard of arowana being confisgated in england because they are not permitted....
and? its said koi picked up herpies by some kind of transference that occured....i dont know about that one but, yikes!

Apparently the Snakehead infestion that we are dealing with in Maryland (USA) can be traced to a man that liberated some fish as a part of a religous ceremony....

Religious snakehead liberation ceremony? Damn hippies.

Hey all

I think the only time a fish should be released back into the wild is if it is native to that area or it is where you originally caught the native fish. I do not believe that any non native fish should be released into an area it does not belong. And releasing these non native fish generally forces the local governments to ban particular imported fish as has happen here in Australia.

Noiesmo :)

I've seen someone dump a huge oscar in Echo Park Lake near downtown LA. I wonder if that sucker was able to survive in that crap infested lake.

nononono please continue to put your piranahs in the monongahela!
also: OPPS...to late now... xD (im jk lol)

It is illegal to release any fish that has been kept in aquaria due to the possible spread of non-native diseases.
