Are people really releasing fish into the wild?
Yes. I've found though that a large portion of the people that do it would never visit forums like these.

Unfortunately it usually isn't even the pet owner that is to blame for the non-natives, but we are the first to be looked at. Usually everyone instantly assumed that it must have come from an irresponsible pet owner before an investigation has even begun. By the time the real source has been found public opinion is already pretty much set and no longer interested in the turth. Nearly everything non-native around here, while blamed quickly on the pet owner, has often later been traced to the airports or the fish-farms.

A Wildlife center close to my home takes in hurt and abandoned wildlife. Its a real feel good place, hurt baby squirrels - fawns- and of course hurt hawks and owls. The operator told me at an educational presentation for the community that most of the wildlife that is brought to her to be rescued dies. THen she said after all the rehab and doctoring and teaching the animal to be released back to the wild, over 90% of them die within a short time. Many at the hands of other wild animals the recoginize the weakness. Just don't understand the point.
Educational area is fantastic, but to masquerade as a rehabilation and rescue place with that kind of numbers..........just gotta wonder.

No doubt I live in A sub-division and live on the edge of a 4 acre pond that is accessible by public road, and I don't know how many times I have seen families at my yard edge letting the family goldfish free!

Rest - This is ostensibly the simplest component as it literally involves doing nothing. However, getting the proper amount of rest is a very important part of any training program and overtraining can be very detrimental to your gains. A general rule of thumb to follow is to allow at least 24 hours of rest in between working the same (or similar) bodyparts but listening to your body is probably the best thing to do in order to determine if you need more rest. Signs of overtraining can include fatigue, delayed muscle soreness, eye twiching, and more.
