I just moved these three from Petsmart to my 125 aquarium.
Look at these little chameleons change color when I move the lamp.
They looked incredibly clean and healthy so I did not quarantine these fish. I just gave them a dip and into the big system with 100 guppies, the hybrid African electric blue tiger, three assorted catfish, and one lone molly.
Yes, you could say this is risky not to quarantine, but these three are the most important fish in my 240 gallon cascade system now. Everybody else in the system seems incredibly healthy.
The two on the left seem to hang out together a lot, while the one on the right is a bit more of a loner. Also slightly smaller.
Maybe I got lucky and these fish will eventually mate.
I was actually more worried about the effect of my system on these new fish, since I recently lost my seven-year-old Oscar to unknown causes.
After 2 days, they are at home in the system, chasing guppies, have figured out the community, are eating normally, school together readily, and are learning to come when I talk to them. All great signs.
These really are amazing and intelligent fish, and after my experiences, I will always own Oscars.
