New Eheim 2262

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Will I got my new Eheim filter 2262 , Checking to make sure everything looks good , The packing was great !
Quick question the connections that get screw in do I use Teflon Tape ?
And amaze at how big this 1262 pump is compared to my
1048 eheim pump I ounce own! This filter is a Power Hoarse . Now I have to wait to place my order, My LFS said he could get me 5L Substrate Pro for $57.
I didn't tell him that was the cheapest price an I don't have to pay shipping but taxes make up for it ! I bought and traded plants with him before.
I might set up the media just like Eheim say's to use: bottom Mech. , Substrate Pro then Fix.

All Eheim threaded connectors use o-rings for sealing, NO teflon tape needed.

The hose tap connectors or shut off valves, only have an o-ring seal on the male end of the connector where it joins to the female connector.

So just hand tighten the connections will do it?
The pump was easy to remove from the stand plate just a tap with the hammer and it slid off. But I got plenty of room under my cabinet I might just keep the cover on the filter.

:nilly:

Yes, just hand tighten til snug. The o-rings perform the sealing. If you overtighten, you will either crack the plastic or extrude the o-rings which will give you leaks.

So you don't plan on rotating the pump?

So you don't plan on rotating the pump?

I might rotate the pump , I do have room in my cabinet , but to be safe and making it easier to remove it for maintenance . I will wait until I have everything that I need , so far I have my
old Hydro 300w heater, Still need to get my media and inline co2 diffuser , intake an return.

So the intake Green suction tube and screen for the Eheim 2262 is 3/4 inch I used a 3/4 inch
pvc slip and fit perfect with a little play. So will the hose fit a 1 inch hose barb?
I would like to able to use a 1 x 8 inch suction screen with a 1 inch pvc It seems to be a lot bigger than what they give you and would be better intake flow
and more suction screen area sides and bottom compare to the small Eheim suction screen that came with the filter.

If one uses the Eheim intake an returns where would be the best placement of the
spray bar? I see most returns next to the intake on the side of the tank facing across?
Or should it be on the opposite end on the side of the tank? How many just put it
across the back of the tank? Would using a Y split 3/4in Loc-Line nozzle work also ?

The placement of the intake and returns will vary depending on how you have your tank decorated with rocks, driftwood and plants.

I usually place my 2260/2262 intakes near the end panels of the tank and run the spraybar across the top front of the tank. I can then rotate the spraybar to direct the flow for the best circulation. I have rock backgrounds in both big tanks so I cannot place the spraybar in the rear.

I've never tried using a 1" barb adapter with the suction hose. I would recommend taking the hose with you to the store to see how snugly it fits. Also check the barb adapter inner diameter to see how much smaller it would be then the hose I.D.

Since you are planning on using dual intakes, you can use the 1" suction screens like you want but just remember that you will still have a slight reduction when you adapt to the Eheim suction hose. So if one suction screen gets plugged with plant material, the other will still allow the filter to operate properly.

I'm just not sure if you are making this harder than it needs to be. I have had quite a bit of dead plant material & even a dead fish get stuck to the stock 2262 intake strainer and never noticed a problem with the filter. You also need to consider how visible the dual intake strainers and larger pipe are going to look in the tank.

No I was just planning on using just one 1inch suction screen not 2.
They are bigger than the stock suction screen 8inches long . I have a few of these laying around , I have a 1 x 3 clear, 1 x 6 clear, and two 1 x 8 Black they are all 1inch mpt.
