Its because people keep making pointless one-line replies, making it really hard to follow because for every one update or post with pics there are a hundred "nice tank" "jealous" "looking good" "can't wait to see it finished" type replies. Its a real shame that people do it, threads like this one, fugupuf's Rare Fish thread, the guy who made a 57000g tank, just about anything by JohnPTC, every "build thread" in the DIY forum, etc etc are all ruined in similar fashion. Its one thing to ask a genuine question related to the topic, but all the "nice work" and "great setup" posts are just a big waste of space and make following a thread from start to finish painfull, IMO...

rant over.
wow going by this and your sig you have some serious issues... seriously what is wrong with complimenting someone on their work? because your tiny brain cant handle all the words is no reason to say it is "pointless" and "a waste of space"...

Also when someone writes in white font you just need to highlight with your mouse.... sooooo hard

waiting for some full setup pics Li :D

I'll ignore your petty personal attacks and try to give you a simple explanation that you can understand (and I'm supposed to be the one with the small brain?)...

Building my 50,000 Gallon Monster Mega Tank. 131 pages, 1299 posts. Go get a stop watch, pretend you've just found the thread and read it from start to finish. Tell me how long it takes, and how many of the 1299 posts contained something worth reading, and how many were pointless (or not, in your mind) "wow I wish I could have a tank like that" or "cool set up" etc.

I agree that there's nothing wrong with complimenting people on their work, but it doesn't make for good reading when you go back to it 12 months later. I apologise for having a different opinion to you, perhaps I should go see a counsellor about my serious issues... :screwy:

Fair enough! This thread isn't such a big deal, but in the DIY forum where people want to follow step-by-step threads to get info and ideas on something they're building it is pretty frustrating having to sift through pages of unsubstantial (I won't call them pointless any more ;)) replies, especially when the thread is written as a "how-to" guide.

I'll quit my b!tching now, although perhaps we should look at the guidelines for 'instructional' type threads...

not really, when you spend enough time on MFK you will learn to speed read and also know the posters that normally have something informative to read so you know where to slow down.

but complaining because it takes soooo long to go there a very popular thread that is like 2 yrs old is just funny...

but seeing as how Li will be cleaning out his thread now, mainly the last few posts I will just say this:

Li looks like it is time to go through all these old threads I remove all the non-important posts. since David R doesnt have time to waste on MFK, well I think that is what he is hinting at.

p.s. I love how people like David R try and act big and say I will ignore that insult and then insult the person back :screwy:
