Split it! Now was that so hard to figure out, hehe;)

Split what?

I think I've got a solution bare with me

The return!

I don't think we are going to go all that advanced with her pond. Probably just do an enourmous waterfall/trickle filter and pass on the drains. Possibly have one or two returns for occaisonal cleaning purposes.

I have to convince her to do it first, then I'll start working out the details.

I think he just means to split the output of the system at some point and run it through the UV. This would of course cause you to have to run a little more plumbing.

For now, I would give the flex a shot if it is readily available.

Thank you, at least someone else on here is awake. Anything you do basically is going to cause you to have to make some sort of ajustment one way or the other. Because, and this isn't a judgement thing but you didn't make arragements for this stuff in your original plans. And you didn't build extra space anywhere that could later be converted/adapted to what you add later.

Easy now... This has been a very long and tedious build for him. Give Yan a bit of a break. There have been so many changes to the original design that I couldn't begin to count. Originally he had a lot of room to work with. Things changed, problems arose and he has dealt with them. There apparently isn't as much space as originally planned.

The key here is to offer what he is looking for...constructive help. Yes, splitting the return may be one option, but that might also limit the amount of flow that is going through the filters. With something this big, he is going to need all the flow he can get. One way to address splitting the return would be to "Y" the lines back into each other before continuing on.

Ultimately, I would advise using the flexible PVC. It will allow you the ability to plumb in a tighter area and not lose too much flow from the excess resistance. Wheher or not it is vertical, horizontal, or just plain ole crooked should make that much of a difference.

Give me a shout if you want some help to work out the details:)

More plumbing would actually slow down the pump, I think I've come up with a solution

You are of course right, at the start of this thing the plan was in my mind and then I started digging a hole, the plan has been adapting ever since, there were going to be only two vortexes for one and then there were three which took up a huge amount of potential space.

Yes I've started to rush and make some errors in the last week, when my pump broke I had to do something, baring in mind there are fish in now. So I got the best pump I could and thought 'crap' I've still no uv so just bought the biggest one they had. So now I kinda stuck with it and I've got to make it work.

This thing HAS to be done by the 20th, no ifs no buts, it's got to be done. I know I'll never get the deck over the filters done but I can just throw a tarp or something over it for now as long as everything is running.

I'll get the plan up later

Cool, let me know if you need some brainstorming help. I'll be around tonight.

Fair enough, here's the plan. I'll be off to bed soon due to time differences.

Here's whats got done today, all the pipe work for the intake to the return has been plumbed in but not set yet, which I thought was the best:

You'll have to bare with the low tech picture here:

By not setting the pipes I can move the pump. By housing the pump in the black square and use the red rectangle for the uv, it will line up with the return almost exactly, the only pain is the fact that doing it this way I'll have to use 1.5'' pipe and not 2 which will reduce the flow. Until the dam thing is in I can't tell if that will be an issue, I need the vortex(one) to spin at the right rate to enable solid waste to drop and not spin to much.

I will need to build a bracket to hold the UV but I've got enough wood lying around to take care of that, plus I get to use more power tools:D

Comments? anyone seen Zen?
