New project, will take a long time

I can't stop thinking... Oh man... connect the 2 ponds and have that walk way turned into a bridge  but thats alot more digging :(

I agree, I suggested the same thing a while back, eventually we may be able to wear him down and give in.

Long term, I'm thinking of adding another two chambers between one and two, full of jap matting in

Rather than the jap mat look into EZR - sand/gravel filters. I held off at first because I didn't want to mess with a blower, but after hearing everyone swear by them finally gave in and made one. It is amazingly simple, cheap, easy to clean, and does a superb job of catching fines.

I wish you lot would keep quiet about another pond, she's having none of it;) It would be super cool though.

The pond is getting worse by the day as what's left of the blanket weed is being peeled off the liner by the pond balance, which is good I suppose but not great for fish viewing, I can just see the bottom but it's barely vis able.

As there's not much to see at the moment, here's the difference a couple of months makes to the K1 fluid bed:

Before, the media is completely white and new:

After, starting to get the brown glow as the BB colonizes:

I've also got a story about a sturgeon, I'll link it later

I'm sad to report that due to that incident... we now have the best pictures of your sturgeon LOL  Great tale errr story...
Up to a week ago you could see them all on the bottom in the day time, since the pond has clouded it's impossible to see them. Here's Steph the culprit:

wow good save glad to here it survived. so is there anything your gonna do to stop it from happening again? personally I would eliminate the culprit but I hate cats and obviosly you don't. I hope to get a picture of it one day but my Alligator gar and my Rotti are facinated with each other nad sit nose to nose at the tank looking at each other. and none of us care for the felines.
