New project, will take a long time

I think cool temp may be fighting you too on the clear water battle. I found I need the water temp consistantly above 60F or below 40F for 4 weeks to have clear water. Any inbetween time and its a mess.

Also for me changing or just adding more than about 10% water at once will trigger a bloom.
Have you checked your uv bulbs? Then tend to last about halve of what is stated and they drop off very quickly.

I'm impressed at all the work you've done. Kudos man. Looks great hope that you can get all the kinks worked out this year!
Thanks

Question what takes exactly one shed load of K1, answers on a postcard:

New filtration components?

or

Foam fractioner upgrade?

...ahhhh hell I'm just guessing here now...
OK OK Brother, What is up with all that K-1

Lets just say that the k1 was the only bit that would fit in my car, I've turned to the dark side;)

Don't the nexus systems use a rotor to spin the media?, but still use K1 right?

This is the exact unit I've just got:

Pause it at 10 sec.

The water comes in on the right, round the internal vortex and up through the k1 in the middle chamber, down the pipe in the middle to the outer chamber which is aerated fluid bed to return.

The main difference is the ease at which you clean it. You put a pipe in the middle and direct the air to the middle which fluidizes the inner k1 and drain to waste.

I've no idea how the hell I'm going to install it yet but the very rough plan is to replace the 1st vortex with this unit(which won't fit:nilly:) pump the return from the nexus via a 50/50 split, one to the foam fractionator and the other one to the other two vortexes to gravity return, somehow:nilly:

I've got a few days to work it out, it's being delivered in the week.

Ok the above plan doesn't work. If I install the nexus where vortex one is the much larger footprint will mean that there is not enough bracing on the pond and the pond will collapse into the filter pit.

The new and rather unfinished plan is to remove the deck at the back, run a 3 meter pipe from the entrance to vortex one and dig out where the deck was and install the nexus there, on a gravity feed, from there pump still 50/50 to above ground vortexes and return from there. Fill in the filter pit so the pond is not compromised.

All this means switching everything off whilst this gets done, in the ponds current state this is a huge problem, so in theory all this will have to be done in a day apart from digging the new hole.

I love a good ol' fashioned hole digging;)

Off to get another scape tested tomorrow, I'm not expecting an improvement but we'll see what happens, still no signs of any fish.
