New project, will take a long time

Put the plug in the hole which stops dirty water going into the bio chamber, turn the pump off and close the intake valve, switch the air on to clean cycle and let it go for twenty mins or so, then drain:

Then this is what you drop to waste:

Got to love the big sturgeon, every pond should have one.

Just wanted to show how clear things are at present, a huge improvement but still know where near perfect.

Why is it when you shoot a video, none of the better fish turn up:screwy:

A lot of the smaller ghosts will be moved on this year. For now they are doing a great job of firing up the bio chamber in the nexus.

We are there, the bottom is clear apart from a few stones that somehow have ended up in there.

Sorry no under water lights, but maybe in the future. I've got some garden lights that focus on the pond at night.

Thanks.

Little update as mentioned before the pond is completely clear down to the bottom. We've got a sick fish, I think it's jumped and banged it's self and that had lead to an infection. Done a scrape and found a touch of trichodina, nothing as bad as before, if you could pick a parasite problem then you'd go for trich every time.

Sturgeon are out and the pond is PPd again, even with the purple water you can almost see the bottom. It's amazing to see the PP treatment doing what it should, it's been in for three hours and nothing happened and now the water is starting to see a huge amount of brown foam on the surface(due to running a silly amount of air during treatment). Hopefully it will go off fully soon then I get the sturgeon back in.

Nice...Won't be long now, since the water is in better condition, should heal up pretty quick...;) :D :headbang2
To be honest it's not in a great state, but time will tell.

Here are some shots, I can't get a decent over head view as the window gets in the way, plus it was raining so I couldn't take a close up:

You can see it going off here, the purple is going brown, you can see how clear it is even with treatment in, all the foam is brown:

And the big sturgeon in its temp home, we couldn't find the smaller one despite a clear pond, we are guessing its gone into the underground pipework. PP kills sturgeon and we were lucky with previous treatments that they made it through. Hopefully it's ok.

Nearly time to fire up the filters and pump again, I want to make sure the pp has fully gone off before I fire everything up as the pp will kill off all the BB in the filter and I've spent ages getting it back up to speed after the upgrade.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm,............... I wanna say something here about all this treatment and the installation finally of a UV system and the use of the Nexus and what not but I won't :irked:.

Is it just the concentration of PP you're using
or
Does any amount of PP kill off Beneficial Bacteria?

I have never used it straight up like you are doing...

So, if I understand you correctly, the PP is dosed and then there is a waiting period that you have to wait until it is no longer toxic to the BB? (by color change)
