Hmmmmmmmmmmm,............... I wanna say something here about all this treatment and the installation finally of a UV system and the use of the Nexus and what not but I won't :irked:.

Why not? I'm putting myself out there sharing the journey, it's your choice to read it or not, comment or not but I don't see why you feel the need to make a non comment.

Everything has been upgraded this year, the old filters were removed and a sieve and nexus fitted, alone with a larger pump to increase turn over rates. The EXISTING UV was upgraded from 48watts to 72watts.

Where's the issue?

When looking for the filter upgrades I wasn't sure about the nexus but got one for less than 1/2 price and to be honest have been very impressed with it performance.

Where's the issue?

Some of the fish have got trichodina, PP kills trichodina, this out break was no where near the infection levels that came out of the worst winter in my memory, somewhere there is a satellite picture of the country.

Where's the issue?

I don't post much these days because fish wise there is nothing much going on, I still have tanks and have started a small planted tank recently but don't want to post it too be honest. This is a fish forum aimed at large fish and the only interesting thing I'm doing in the hobby is the pond, so I'll keep posting on about it for people that want to read and have followed the jorney.

Is it just the concentration of PP you're using
or
Does any amount of PP kill off Beneficial Bacteria?

I have never used it straight up like you are doing...

So, if I understand you correctly, the PP is dosed and then there is a waiting period that you have to wait until it is no longer toxic to the BB? (by color change)

To be honest I have no idea what levels of pp would kill BB but it won't be much.

I made the decision to switch them off even though there will be trich in there but due to the low amount found on the fish, it wasn't worth wiping the filter out now the fish are feeding so much, this in tern will build them up to be strong enough to fight off what ever is left. Wiping out the filter could have led to more serious problems down the line.

wow Yan this looks great now. ya I was just thinking back to the beginning of this. what a long journey it has been. you have struggled through alot that many would have walked away from. oh and just for old times sake....

BUMP FOR ZENN
At the start of the year, I was done and did give up, but was talked round and now we are at a point where we are happy with it. It's not perfect and there are still stuff to do(mainly cosmetic stuff, you can see where the proper return is going in the over head picture) but for now water seems good and the fish are good, parasite problems are a pain but part of the hobby.

And I am so glad you did keep after it...ponds are forever needing something it seems...
I'm sure yours will be ready for this summers rest and relaxation time...

well Buddy I am glad you decided to keep going. you will be very happy. I know I am and all I get to see is the odd picture. you have fought through alot with this and I think for some it may scare them from ever attempting it. you perservered and for that I give you 2 thumbs uo. to see something all the way through is rare. also don't be shy about the smaller tanks. all tanks are great. by the way what happened in the end with that long skinny tank?

No Way!...you are kidding me right??? another one??
Yup another one, but it'll be know where near the scale of mine, a few goldfish job, it will be quite big but know where near as deep. It's another long term one as Dan needs to do a small bit at a time due to a restricted cash flow.

The skinny tank is setup next door and has been for about a year now. guppies, scissor tails and a pleco.

I see, I see, all surface area and not a lot of depth...good call, less filtration needed as well.

He can probably get by with a small "Bakki shower" type filter and an air pump...
