Lots done no real progress to show for it.
The day started well:
The main focus was on hole 2 where the filtration is going to be. All the sides were dug out and straightened to vertical. An extra space was dug out properly for the pipework. Also more was dug to allow for the brickwork underneath. The pond level was taken from the concrete at the other side so all in all another 4 inches needed to be dug out.
In hole one, a frame was made to house concrete. The levels were checked and rechecked and then mixed and poured.

Back in hole 2, the vortexes were trial fitted and checked for level(although the shot doesn't show it):
Then the brick worked started and another concrete mix done for the extra pipework and for a new level:

The plan for today was to finish the brick work in hole 2 and see where that went from there. Naturally the brickwork in hole 2 is still unfinished
On a good point the collar on the far side has been done, 6 hours to get the levels right,the wood work in place and to mix the concrete(by hand of course). A lot the problems with this bit was caused by the idiot hole digger who cut too much out on that side. You can tell by the pictures that the is a distinct lack of not straight at the start of it but this can be fixed at the flagging stage, as it's so close to the fence no traffic apart from the cats should be walking on there so if one or two over hang a bit more I'll get away with it. If anyone speaks dog pm me and I'll let him know:
I think it was Zen a few pages back who commented on the bracing, the new industry standard way to do it with 8 foot posts, this was the only bit that gave way when filling:
Need to let that set for a week now while I'm back at work so we can reuse the wood on the other side.
The back bit between hole 1 and 2 is getting fully concreted but I'll wait for that bit until the last minute, I need to get the return in first.
After all that fun... I really wanted to get the drain in and pipe work fitted but never the less I almost got there.
I must point out at this point that 'I' mainly means 'me and my dad' and if Mrs Y Isn't working she does the drinks and snack etc.

Cutting the 1.5 inch air pipe was fine I only did one practice run as it's fairly cheap, cutting the 4 inch was a one time, one go deal and at £70 a throw I couldn't mess it up or practice. Thank XXXX I got it right first time.

The next stage is the really fun part, wait for Mrs Y to be out and then clean and solder the pipe work in the house before she comes back, it's the only way to make sure everything is truly clean and spot on before fitting.
