Here is my question, why do you want to put the filteration system below ground level? The pond I understand, but the filteration???? :irked:

So many things can go oh so very wrong here and you may not know it until it's way too late. I can only hope that you have made plans to place cut off valves between each and every container and from where the water leaves the pond and where it returns to the pond.
No I have a main cut off valve entering the filtration system, with a gravity based filter the water line of the pond needs to match the water line at the top of the filter, the pump goes in the last part and lowers the level and the rest works on gravity.

The ideal way to do it would have been to build up 4 foot from the ground and yes then have the filtration above ground but still level with the pond. Yes a valve between each chamber would have been the way to go and can be retro fitted if necessary but they are freaking expensive

I bet if you endure the plumbing hassle between Vortex 1 & 2 you'll be happy.
You basically have all the head from the top of the vortices to the bottom of the pond, to feed the first two and supply the pump. As long as your pump isn't overkill you'll be alright, IMO
Chamber one is a settling chamber that by the power of gravity runs all the mud, dirt etc down via the vortex to the drain.
Two is mechanical
Three is bio
The idea was that four could be anything and run the gravity system.

Can you elaborate I don't understand?

more then usual..... but i try to keep up with you and everything else new... :D

Left hand side wall all but sorted, 2 thirds of the right hand wall(the bad one) concreted, all pipework concreted in.

Hole one almost complete and ready for liner in a few days.

Now please just stay dry long enough not to cause any more damage:nilly:

Zen, will 24 hours be ok for the concrete to go off enough to remove the boards?

Pictures later
