Blasphemy!

Just like tanks you can never have too many. Just build yourself a nice little series of above ground water gardens and spillways over to the old pond and plumb it back to the main pond. That way you can say "but its really only one pond sweetheart"

It would be a real pain running the water over the deck;). The old pond is real bad shape, too bad to save, there is a picture just on this thread somewhere of it.

It was done when we'd just moved in with no planning just a ' I'm going to build a pond', dug small hole, added liner etc. then got silly and added a stream and waterfall, everything leaked badly, bricks fell in etc. and I basically gave up on it, all of the above with no planning at all, hence why I took my time one this one....

Get some fishing in, finally, I've forgotten what lakes and rivers look like, plus if the weathers really bad I'll just set the carp pod up in the conservatory

System shut off valve opened, and now I'm off to work:nilly::nilly:

Well it wouldn't be this project if it didn't leak;) Here's the list:

The unpatched up(again) pipe that leaked before obviously still leaks, one drip every 40 secs. Going to do some more extreme solvent repair tomorrow and try out Zens magic wrap for good measure

The down pipe into vortex 3 leaks on the rubber connector, this has been tightened and now doesn't leak

That's it, throughout the whole system, vortex drains as well:woot:

As for how much water actually is lost through the small remaining leak is impossible to tell, but before it rained again, water level in the vortexes did not drop, I suppose when your talking about 3500g then how much would anyone notice?

Hopefully some nice weather tomorrow so I can fix the remaining leak, add K1 and sort out the return(that I bought a pipe that's too big for:duh:)

Thanks,

I love it when people find this and read it from the start to the finish, I did the same thing when I joined on John's tank, and others. :)

Extreme solvent weld repair done, sorry no photos this time but I did get my head wet this time, I find it handy for balance on the bottom of the vortex;) I think I got it done.

The day started badly due more really bad rain, hole 2 was a 1/4 full of water so that needed to be pumped out first.

Tomorrow the sun is supposed to be shining so back to testing again and go and get the correct pipe for the return, fit and test that. All being well should be up and running by this time tomorrow. Then it's just a matter of laying the flags and it's good to go.

Then I can finally shut the wife up with her constant 'can we get fish now',
'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', 'can we get fish now', etc;)

I keep getting this visual of myself...My head down below grade, in the bottom of a vortex, both arms at my sides...I'd be so pinned...I am so glad you are OK there...
