The 4" space in the bottom should allow for some some debris to settle. Another drain or bung near the bottom will allow you to clean it out with a simple turn of a valve and flush it out. kind of like a settling tank the some Koi keepers run.

Here's my pump and filter area. It's designed like my skimmer filter except much larger. I'm going to cut slits in the garbage pail and make it like a big basket to catch the leaves and larger particles. The water will then pass through the green filter brushes and then through the black, fine matting.

The three outlets are the 4" bottom drains from the pond.

Now that the pump room is almost done they're working on getting the piping done. Its so important that I'll be able to efficiently use the excess water from the filters for irrigation because after the rainy season it won't rain for about 3 months straight.

They also worked on the electrical stuff for the under water pool light.

One of he workers was washing rock all day for the filter/bog. I think he's going to take him another 2 months. Not really

A youtube video or another thread containing all the pics would be awesome once your done. This is as cool as the 50,000 gallon tank.
