Throw the kids in to clean the bottom!

Anyone else hear about the guy who proposed to his fiance?....he led her to a wooden bridge over a creek, stopped in the middle, kneeled in front of her and just as he took the ring out of it's box it slipped from his hands and fell through the wooden boards of the bridge.
His three thousand dollar engagement ring dropped to the bottom of the creek.

And that ladies and gentlemen is why you don't spend stupid amounts of money on an engagement ring. :D

3K would be considered cheap now a days for a lot of people here in the US. I think the current recommended amount is up to 3x your monthly salary now.

I saw that video, was hilarious as it was just apparent from the beginning what was going to happen. Though if it was 3k it will be heavy enough not to wash away so he can probably retrieve it.

That was always the recommended price I heard here, but I helped a friend pick one once and every ring that cost 2.5k+ was just massive to the point of being kinda tacky. The average monthly salary in the US I believe is almost 4k, who is buying 12,000 dollar engagement rings?

The story has been getting around on a few news shows the past few days, feel free to post a clip of the video if you can.
It seems some friends of the couple went into the water to try and recover the ring but I guess all they managed to do was stir up a bunch of mud.
