Back in my day it used to be 2x monthly salary here. I certainly wouldn't want to pay 3x my current on one. So much better things it could go for. A big aquarium or a new computer.
That's stupid! Why on earth would anyone spend all that money on an engagement ring!? Hell, at least make the actual wedding ring the fancy one so that if you drop it, it just rolls along the floor of the cathedral and can be easily retrieved!3K would be considered cheap now a days for a lot of people here in the US. I think the current recommended amount is up to 3x your monthly salary now.
I didn't know this either. I was under the assumption that as long as she liked the ring it didn't matter how much it cost. Personally I think most of the $150 rings look better than the $3000 rings for the most part anyway.I wasn't aware that the rings had to be within a certain price range.I guess the jewelers came up with that.
I'm sitting on my front porch and I just sprayed a mist of iced tea out of my mouth after reading this.Well that sucks haha..
I remember seeing somewhere that those having expensive lavish weddings have a higher chance of divorce than those with more budget weddingsbah, been married twice, and they got what I got them. they not marring a ring, they marring me. first marriage was 14 years then took a dump. Still married to second 20 years and going strong. Been to quite a few expensive wedding, with expensive rings, that took a dump after 3 or 5 years.
That's a keeper. My wife is the same. She doesn't even want flowers. She says a $40 dozen roses is a waste. Better off taking her to dinner or something she can useWell that sucks haha.
I have already been told if I paid 2 or 3 paychecks on a ring my girlfriend would be pissed at me. She said to buy her a quad, bike, or a truck.
