Australia has a lot less violent crime in general, it varies greatly. Firearms aren't going anywhere, so with decent controls they can be in the hands of those who can use and look after them with the proper precautions and mindset.
If they have a lot less crime then they don't need their government disarming them.
I'm all for firearms training,I go to the range every month or so aside from tge training provided by my employer but I am not for members of my government attempting to require it.There are enough laws in place as it is.

Hello; Why not do this? Look up the crime statistics for Australia since the gin bans and confiscation went into effect. Specifically the assault rates. The way I understand it since the gun bans there has been an increase in physical assaults. Less gun crime I suppose if that is the only thing that matters to a person. However the gun bans make folks look like "soft prey" to the thugs. They have less to worry about because the government created a whole bunch of defenseless potential victims.

so with decent controls they can be in the hands of those who can use and look after them with the proper precautions and mindset.
Hello; Just the sort of thing the anti-gun folks around here say. The truth is such a rule would be used to take away the "right" to have a firearm from many folks.
An example for our past. There use to be literacy test a person had to pass in order to vote in elections. Eventually because voting is an enumerated "right" such voting laws were deemed unconstitutional and no longer can be used.

Maybe just a mandatory training course and everything would make sure those who are fit to bear arms can do so in a safe manner.
Hello; Again the term "mandatory" does not fit with having a right.

right to firearms training
Hello; Again some politician and his/her minions get to restrict who qualifies or not.

I am not for members of my government attempting to require it.There are enough laws in place as it is.
Hello; This.

I don't see the massive fuss. It's not that difficult to monitor people nowadays, he's probably under watch as we speak. If anything occurs it should be found out early...

Yeah right.....just like the FBI was already aware of the last jihadist in New York yet he was still able to carry out his deeds.
