Official Off Topic Discussion Thread #1

Hello; Got all the way up to 34 F here briefly this afternoon. Back to below freezing for a few more days.

Saw a story about "swatting" today. Somebody calls in a "false" 911 report just to get a "swat" like police response at someone's home. This sort of thing must have been going on for a time but the story today was about some innocent guy getting shot by police.
 
ya not good, cop should not have shot him. guy just hanging out at home with his family.

I'd like to see the caller brought up on some kinds of charges and be made to answer for what he's caused....nothing will probably happen to the cop for blowing the poor fellow away.
 
so far guy has been charged with making a false police report. more charges are pending.
I think the cop that shot the guy needs to loose his badge. And brings up a disturbing thing.
cops on my my property, at my house can shoot me because i am pulling my pants up and asking whats going on?
 
This reminds me of another incident in which police were called to a hotel about a man waving a gun around...
One of the responding officers confronts a man in the hallway of the hotel and begins giving him a series of hard to follow commands including crawling on the floor toward the officer with his hands clasped behind his neck.The officer,who is about twenty feet away from the crawling man opens fire on him with his AR15 when the man moves his arm.
 
yup read that one, he was a pest control guy, they where pellet guns and part of his job, he was there with his wife, again cop just not doing things right. no reason for him to crawl up, once hand up or behind your head and on the ground cops should be coming up to him, not the other way, thats just a power trip.
 
then you got the Australian gal, fixing to get married, she heard screaming and thought a rape may be happening and calls the cops, they show up, she come out in her PJ,s approaches the car because well she called them, goes to the driver side window, and the cop in the passenger seat shoots across his driver and kills her. WTF!
 
IMHO all 3 are murder, as to what degree up to a prosecutor. but they need to be prosecuted.

Oh yeah.....that one really pisses me off mainly because the cop is some kind of immigrant and he is being protected by different organizations.The last I heard he was not even cooperating with the investigation or allowing hinself to be interviewed by authorities....at this point I'm not sure if he has been suspended,terminated or what but it does not appear that there will be any justice for that woman.
 
Its one thing to be in a high crime area and dealing with a known felon, and another to not have any reason to beleave the person is a criminal and pull and shoot with out any meaning ful contact but to to yell.
