Official Off Topic Discussion Thread #1

Check out a Honda online forum, the issue may be discussed in a thread in one of them?
Hello; Did as you suggested and did find a site with suggestions. Sent the link to both Honda dealers but no response as yet.
Seem to me the Honda dealers are reluctant to address this. I think they pretty much want me to take the car as is and see if I can work things out. Honda has a "moon roof " in all models above the base LX. I do not want a moon roof so have not considered the upper models. It also appears that the upper models have a better infotainment system so it may be a catch 22 sort of thing.

I've never cared for moonroofs or sunroofs either.I had a bad experience with one in a car I had years ago and haven't liked them since.

Hello; Yes they eventually leak or will not close. There is one fellow who is even more anal about car care than I am. He opens his, cleans out al the small spaces and lubes all the gaskets two or three times a year. His likely will not leak and will not bind. Might have a motor failure at some point.

My Pt Cruiser didn't leak in 15 years but I didn't use it much. I didn't want the Outlander to have it but it does.

I love moonrooves. My father had one on his '84 Saab 9000 when I was six, and he used to let me sit on the roof and dangle my legs into the car when he drove. The car was 19 years old when the turbo died and my father tried to part it out (a disaster, he made back what he spent on the car, but it sat on cinderblocks in the driveway for 6 months before he gave up and sold it for scrap.), and I don't think the moonroof ever leaked. My current car, a '95 saturn SW1 has a roof that is patched with aquarium sealant, and it has no moonroof.

Hello; I guess as with most things moonroofs have improved over time. I am old and some of my experience goes back a ways. Maybe they do not leak so much any more. I do know one fellow who will not open his any more because it got stuck open one time.

My other reasons for not wanting one include the extra cost. Hard to justify paying for a hole in a roof that I do not want. They also can reduce head room and add weight up high. The weight up high is not such a big deal in most sedans or SUV's but might be in a sports car.

Is there a difference between a moonroof and a sunroof?

Moon roof doesnt open all the way, sun roof does
