If you really thing about it breakdancing is really just a form of gymnastics, it involves the same basic skills, strength and coordination, apparently it was a one off and wont be in any more olympics.
Lol, maybe...but I've already thought about it more than I feel it deserves.

Gymnasts spend half their time flying through the air, landing with precision and grace, twisting and turning in mid-air like swallows in flight.

Break-dancers begin every routine by falling down, and then don't get up until they are done.

My suspicion is it was a publicity stunt on her behalf to get some quick sponsorship and advertising deals as she is suddenly a global talking point. It would be more lucrative than an actual gold medal, its funny as she is everywhere on any news website you can find but i dont even know who actually won the gold.
So true. She's a bloody genius mate...now a wealthy one at that! 🤑

LOL.....and seriously?.....breakdancing and skateboarding are Olympic events?.....what next,competitive graphiti??
Absolutely nothing wrong with skateboarding if they actually race on the damn things!

Kick flipping, grinding, jumping on the board…. It’s all just a performance art fest.

Are those flipping chickens willing to do a world record beating 85+ mph speed run?
( 135+ kph for you metricated folk.)

Nope.

Mischio Erban did it 10 years ago. It has been (unofficially) broken since. He rode these wheels.

BTW, my skate wheels have never gone over 40MPH. I did that on these ZigZags.

And it was not in a straight line.
I wiped out on a curve at that speed.
Gravity loses to centrifugal action, and I found myself sideways, yet still “standing” on the board as I punched it through the weeds.

Lol, I recall back in my motorcycling days how contemptuously I viewed the road warriors who drove their cars like lunatics. 100mph while encased in a car doesn't even begin to compare to that speed on an unfaired 2-wheel sport bike.

But....standing on a skateboard? Nope, uh uh, not this little yellow duck...:)

If you want your mind well and truly blown, then watch this. There are loads of videos on you tube of these lunatics, daredevils, madmen, whatever you want to call them. These are long boarders, similar to skateboards but bigger. Respect!

Wow! Unbelievable! I sure hope this is on a closed road; I hate to think of a car coming around one of those bends when that guy on a 6-inch-wide plank is busy taking up two entire lanes.

I was bemused by that stance with the two hands clasped behind the back. Improved aerodynamics? Holding his pants up? Checking to see if he shat himself? 🤔

I've seen loads of these videos and no, the roads aren't always closed! They really are living on the edge. I'm familiar with a lot of these alpine type descents through watching cycling. Cyclists can get well over 100kph going down some of these roads, but the difference being, the roads are definitely closed during professional cycling stages, so those long boarders are nothing short of crazy.
