I see where some people are coming from when saying they watch this show for the entertainment. That's great and all and I'm watching a repeat eight now but knowing what I know now after reading this thread makes it pretty hard to really get the entertainment factor. Shows like pimp my ride and sons of guns are entertaining and I wouldn't pick them apart because of that. However, tanked deals with live animals... Live animals that are either mistreated or outright killed (inadvertently or not) and I find it pretty darn horrible.

I just can't liken tanked to another reality show because if I was watching an entertaining reality show about building custom dog house enclosures that we're obviously too small for the dogs or were putting dogs together that we're fighting and hurting each it would be the same thing as what has been described about tanked and obviously a horrible thing.

I think there's a desensitizing factor to some (most) people with fish that they don't even realize they have because we've been raised around eating fish, fishing for sport, and as a fish dies generally (at a quick glance or watching an edited tv show) it just goes and doesn't give a huge show as it dies. Obviously that's a conversation for another day but it just came to mind as I was typing this up.

I hope I'm not detailing the thread here as it is to discuss the show but I really wanted to add to what I was reading in some of the earlier posts and also thank the members that have enlightened me when it comes to their practices as businessmen (or reality tv stars that is)

Thank you for your insight, concern, and understanding reguarding the more important issues related to the mishandeling of livestock on the show. Its good to see another mature mfk respond to this thread.

The show is okay and all but I would like to see something mor along the line of freshwater and dealing with cichlids. They do the African cichlids once in a blue moon but no south or central American cichlids. They act like a bunch of little kids in a candy store that get told you can't have the blow pop. I like seeing the salt water fish but want something more to do with the south and central American cichlids. They also need to build tanks that are more of what the real fish keepers want to see instead.

I caught FIsh Tank Kings On Demand early in the morning out of earshot of the kids. I thought it was lame. They spent most of the episode focusing on people yelling at each other. Plus, the installer got lost in the stadium? That's original (recall the Tanked guys getting lost in the furniture store). In this episode, the project manager of the stadium was so much of a jerk that I could hardly stand to watch it. The main guy and owner of the company that they were overtly advertising was swearing profusely and throwing tantrums. The only thing about it that I liked better than Tanked was the "fish geek" (Francis, I think?). Plus at least the tank seemed adequately sized for the stock, and they spent a little more time on acclimating the fish. Lame...

Thank you for the reply. I came back to this thread today because I was just thinking about the show after I watched the 'favorite builds' episode yesterday r whatever it was. While watching it I had replied to this and I found myself getting kind of agitated watching the show after that. I'm really thankful to have been educated about this behind the scenes stuff and it makes me angry that I expect better than that out of something like this. I expect them to be great ntertainers on their show and also be completely professional and know what they're doing. It makes me beyond angry to think people like that get so much money when they're not even doing their job right. It's not that they're bad people I'm sure but I'm also sure that they probably don't care. It's all about production value and I'm almost angry at myself for thinking all along that of course those fish are fine, of course they've explained things to the new owners that they should have. Actually I didn't even think those thoughts before because I shouldn't have to. I shouldn't have to expect that a show designed around a profession has the professionals doing their job right because that's just the way it should be =/

Anyway, like I said, I'm sure they're fine people, I was just thinking about that and it got me a little heated and I wanted to vent it a bit. Especially when I am a new fish owner who feels horrible that I didn't cycle my tank correctly before adding fish in because I didn't do a good enough job educating myself. I love my fish and I keep an eye on them all the time like they're my little sick kids I need to take care of XD

i concur.. i was really dissapointed. francis .. keep ticking people off.. but next time discuss the treatment for the porkfish with pop eye.( granted they either cut it out or decided it wasnt imporant to show) looking forward to seeing the shark tank episode where he flat out tells them shark tanks cant/shouldnt be done in the time frame ect... when your not the boss its hard sometimes.

while the miami guy was a jerk.. he did seem to have the fishes well being a priority.

ill give them a few weeks, and see how it progresses.
