Oh Wal Mart

Buying their fish is just encouraging them to keep ordering them. while the idea of "Saving" all these fish from them is heartwarming. The reality of the matter is complaining to management, and refusing to purchase from them is the only way to keep them from continuing the neglectful abuse. I avoid shopping at Walmart period.. the fish being one of many reasons.
Cuss words.....grrrr.
So, anyway....I signed that petition with my facebook account and at first it illicited laughs by people saying, "live fish? Would you rather them sell dead fish?" and which point I quickly ended the comical side bar by pointing out that walmart also sells seafood and with the dropping intelligence in the world, the petition-creator had to be specific so that no one would think we wanted them to stop selling canned tuna or frozen salmon. Eventually the conversation metamotphised into a debate about comparing large companies like walmart to the US Military and small LFS (local fish stores) to small civilian contractors like Black Water. I know...pretty off the wall. I can post the conversation here if anyone's interest has peaked.

See I'm not the only one who has pics of dead fish at walmart. I went to the website to complain and it did me no good.

Many of the wal-marts here in the Iowa backwoods still sell fish. Which is really too bad. Oscars, dragon gobys, and pacus for sale by the evil empire. Makes me wonder how many people have bought a 2", $8 pacu on a whim while at the store to get a toy or gallon of milk?

Exactly - live fish are a loss leader and not a profit center for Wal-Mart. The people who run Wal-Mart know this...and that a lot of fish die. Investing in the people and processes to ensure that they're selling really healthy fish doesn't make business sense for Wal-Mart.
I quite buying ANYTHING from Wal-Mart a few years ago. The more people that don't set foot in the stores, the more impact you can have.
While poor care of fish is important, cheating their employees - women, returning veterans, people who work overtime for them - is worse. While Wal-Mart has spent a lot of money of late re-working its image, Google Wal-Mart and Class Action and see what you find.
