Just wondering if any of the slate bottom tank people have any pictures? I would love to see them. I can just remember a tank my neighbour had that had metal egdes to hold the glass. It was forgotten outside for years, till us kids filled it up. It leaked like crazy.

But we learned that had to do with there capture with Cyanide.
slate bottomed tank..hm...i'm only 21 so i wasn't around when these were big, but i feel like i've seen one somewhere...with metal on the sides perhaps...this seems really familiar lol. and i still don't use chemicals. my water is well water so 0 chlorine, and i believe in prevention and old-fashioned [i guess] treatment of disease. i keep my temperature slightly warm [just above the midrange for my fish] and keep aquarium salt in the water. i know a lot of people say it is crap but i think it is a very handy tool when it comes to preventing and nipping things like bacterial infections in the bud. i've never had serious disease in my tanks. and if i see anything such as ich or a fungus forming, i catch it right away and treat with salt and heat. there was one time one of my puffers got a sort of fuzzy coating on his eye, and i took him out right away, hospitalized him, treated with heat and salt and left him in the tank two days past when it was no longer visible. and he was only out for four days total. i tend to not trust medicines with my pets.. but i'm a little paranoid
