Just read this whole thread over the course of the day...it has been very distracting, but I needed that a little today. Love the arros. Soon enough I will have my monster pond up and running too, but it will be aquaculture. Nothing as cool as this! :D

With 2 aro's being added, thought of letting go of some of the fish and decided to dispose of:

27" ID Shark (black): This was the first official resident of the pond, he has always been a bit shy and allows me only to touch his snout and not his body. Whereas the 29" virtually allows me to pet and even partially lift up its body from the water.

14" Golden Giant Gourami: Although a really beautiful specimen, I let it go because she was the only fish in the pond who quickly swam away to hide whenever I'd come near the pond. A major pet peeve of mine because aside from it startling the other fish when it does that, it kinda pisses me off that instead of swimming to me she swam away.

I had a potential buyer and I asked him what his tank/pond dimensions were. When he SMS'd me the dimension, I replied, "okay, I'm quite sure you meant FEET instead of meters, because if you pond is in meters, that comes out close to 15,000G whereas if it were feet, it would still be a monstrous 400G.

It was in meters. :WHOA:

Of course, I gladly volunteered to deliver the fish to him, brought my SLR and videocam. As I was shooting away, there was a message on my SLR screen: "No CF Card...idiot!"

Argh. Visited a 15kG pond with a basement view window and I forgot my CF card.

WOW WOW WOW hey man i take my hat off to u. u have put some time and effort in to making this even tho it's a platic pool. has given me some ideas and i won't be spending £1200 on another 125g tank plus then all the decor and filters. think a etup like this would go ace in the middle of the fish room eould make a brilliant pygo pond

There is a nice 8-9 inch albino ID at my LFS if you wanna come give it a nice home.
Okay, a couple of things:

  • My 30" Silver Aro will have that 8" Albino for lunch. I feed it frozen fish that are 6-9" in length.
  • I'd have to fly 1 or 2 miles, give or take a couple of thousand more to get to your side of the globe to get the fish. Might not be entirely the most practical thing for me to do. ;)

even tho it's a plastic pool.
This humble plastic pool has not leaked (thank God) and looks like its gonna hold up for very long. Not too bad for something that is about the cost of 120G.

i think something very similar to this is next on the list do u think this would work if i put pond liner in it follow link http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3683101/Trail/searchtext%3EPOOL.htm works out to be 4000 gal and i have the space!!! if so i could do it for around £700 with 3 x fuval fx5 filters + decor instead of the £1200 + filters+ decor i spend on top grade tanks witch are only 120 gal

Well, if you have the space, then I don't see why NOT :headbang2

Always a good idea to put in a liner for added protection. 4,000G of water weigh quite a bit :)

Why get multiple FX's when you can DIY your own wet/dry and do it so much better. Just put the $avings in tons of media.

Imagine spendingless the amount and getting 4,000G instead of 120G, it's a no brainer. Not everyone can do this because not everyone has the space, for those who have the space, it would be a tragedy for monsterfish keeping fans NOT to do it!
