Parachromis dovii, the guapote, rainbow bass, or wolf cichlid at Fish Story

Nice, keep the updates coming. Massive tank and plenty of room, looks very healthy. Imagine that fish in 10 years in that tank, completely different looking fish. I've seen multiple spawning pairs in a massive public aquarium (Chattanooga TN). IMO most Dovii aggression is not having enough space in a typical tank. They need lots of room and a 15 year old Dovii is so different than a 5 year old in a 300 gallon.

The Big Bad is making some good appearance toward the end of the video, after 12:30 minutes.

He stopped eating or barely eats lately, for a few weeks, which worries me but I hope this is a natural cycle in the dovii appetite. Can you confirm or refute? Does their appetite wax and wane or is it steady year round in your hands?

One or both Peru piraiba in the 4500 gal tank attacked Big Bad, the dovii. When I discovered it in the morning, it was too late. The dovii went into a shock and never came out of it. Ever since they attacked a marble Pim catfish two weeks ago, I started feeding them 2x more... but obviously still not enough, or maybe it's the season to gorge up on food. Fish go through such seasons.

Sorry to see big bad get taken down. I wonder if there was more internal damage to some organs that he just couldn’t come back from.
Do the gouramis ever get attacked?

The GGs get an odd bite sometimes but hard to say from who, maybe the kin disputes. They are smarter I guess at staying away from the piraibas and avoiding getting on their prey radar.
